The ‘The Principles of Tawheed in Clinical Practice’ is a course for post-graduate students in the Kulliyyah of Medicine, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). It is part of the Islamic Input in Medical Practice (IIMP) program conceived in 2008. The IIMP programme for post-graduate covers four topics:
- Principles of Tawheed in Clinical Practice
- Fiqh Al-Ibaadah for the Sick
- Fiqh Muamalah in Medicine; and
- Ethics and Professionalism
The programme is implemented through interactive workshops and seminars conducted annually throughout the four years of post-graduate studies in their respective field of medicine.
The content of this book is useful for both Muslim and non-Muslim students when they deal with Muslim patients. For the Muslim patient, Tawheed (faith) is central to the teaching of Islam; and by no means its conviction should be preserved during health and sickness; hardship and time of ease. The understanding of Tawheed in many circumstances shaped Muslims’ health seeking behaviour.
